We are currently recruiting Ramp Operatives to work at our Luton base.

Location: London Luton Airport (LU2 9NW)

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (40 hours).

THE ROLE

The role is to provide additional support to our Operations team with handling requests, being mindful of capacity and safety at all times.

Co-ordinating the daily movement schedule to ensure optimum use of the operational day while remaining within regulative constraints.

Executing clients’ requests, including third-party bookings, with great attention to detail and without delay (hotel, catering, transport etc).

Working closely with the Operations team to work through options to meet customer requests.

Liaising with all operators to deliver the highest standards of personalised service without delay to passengers.

Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders on relevant flight requests.

THE HOURS

The successful applicant must be flexible and professional. The Stansted base operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Opening and closing hours are based on the customer’s requirements.

You will be required to work as part of a team covering a 24-hour operation, which will include working earlies, days, lates, nights, weekends and bank holidays. The average working week is 40 hours. The standard shift is 11.5 hours, with a 30 minute unpaid break.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Previous experience working in an airport environment is essential (ideally within an operations team or in ramp).

You should be able to recognise and understand the different flight types, aircraft sizes, fuel requirements and the importance of being able to identify the different operational specifications that may be required for each individual flight or sector. The postholder will have an understanding of ramp capacity and how to manage the space safely.

You should be able to identify staffing levels required across all operational departments, i.e. Customer Service, Reception, Ramp and Fuel, knowing when to offer customers handling at a time which best suits the available ramp space, staffing levels and fuel availability.

They are required to be quick thinking and very adaptable, as the nature of our business often dictates unique requirements.

They must be multi-skilled, often have to undertake several tasks at once, whilst ensuring that they maintain a professional attitude at all times.

The role can at times be challenging, requiring a high level of organisational skill and the ability to co-ordinate and communicate effectively with all other departments and customers.

The role is demanding, and the successful candidate should be calm, professional and flexible under pressure.

They will be enthusiastic, with a willing personality and sense of humour, who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative, setting a professional example to their team, always demonstrating courtesy and integrity.

They will have good communication skills as well as strong computer and administration skills (general working knowledge of systems such as Microsoft office) which are essential.

A full UK driving license is essential, and you must have access to your own transport to enable you commute to our location out of hours when public transport is not available.

They will also need to have a 5-year checkable history to obtain an airport ID pass.

You must hold the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Initial training will require a period working Monday to Friday.
