We are currently recruiting an Operations Controller to work at our Luton base.

Location: London Luton Airport (LU2 9NW)

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (40 hours).

THE ROLE

Responsible for controlling and planning the day to day operation. The Operations Controller will be required to oversee all aspects of aircraft handling and flight planning.

The role will include delegating tasks to the Operations Assistants, accepting flights by completing an analysis on the capacity level and co-ordination/liaison with both customers and staff.

The successful candidate will correlate data for governmental and company use, be the first point of contact for the flight crew and provide technical/administration support to the other departments.

You will also be responsible for the day to day management of the Operations Assistants.

THE HOURS

The successful applicant must be flexible and professional. The Luton base operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Opening and closing hours are based on the customer’s requirements.

You will be required to work as part of a team covering a 24-hour operation, which will include working earlies, days, lates, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility will be required due to the possibility of occasional lone working or workload, in which shift times may be varied.

The average working week is 40 hours. The standard shift is 11.5 hours, with a 30 minute unpaid break.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Reporting to the Duty Manager team, the Operations Controller is a first-line supervisory role. The position requires a confident and experienced individual with a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude, committed to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining the strong reputation of Harrods Aviation.

They are required to be quick thinking and very adaptable, as the nature of our business often dictates unique requirements.

The role can at times be challenging, requiring a high level of organisational skill and the ability to co-ordinate and communicate effectively with all other departments and customers.

The role is demanding, and the successful candidate should be calm, professional and flexible under pressure.

They will be enthusiastic, with a willing personality and sense of humour, who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative, setting a professional example to their team, always demonstrating courtesy and integrity.

They will have good communication skills as well as strong computer and administration skills (general working knowledge of systems such as Microsoft office) which are essential.

A full UK driving license is essential, and you must have access to your own transport to enable you commute to our location out of hours when public transport is not available.

They will also need to have a 5-year checkable history to obtain an airport ID pass.

You must hold the right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
