We are currently recruiting for a Licensed Engineer to join our established and reputable Engineering team at our Luton base in the role of Shift Supervisor.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a team of skilled Engineers and Mechanics, delivering exceptional scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance services to our prestigious clientele.

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (40 hours)

THE ROLE

The Shift Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing the performance and standards of the team. They will ensure all maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality, while also managing the day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities of the shift.

The post is a hands-on certifying position, and the successful candidate will actively take part in the planning and performance of the aircraft maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise maintenance teams during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory and company standards.
  • Coordinate and monitor all maintenance activities, both scheduled and unscheduled.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and performance across all tasks.
  • Provide clear direction, support, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Manage shift documentation, reporting, and administrative duties effectively.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical and operational issues during your shift, liaising with internal teams and customers to ensure smooth operations.

They are required to be quick thinking and very adaptable, as the nature of our business often dictates unique requirements.

The role can at times be challenging, requiring a high level of organisational skill and the ability to co-ordinate and communicate effectively with all other departments and customers.

They must be multi-skilled, often having to undertake or control several tasks at once, whilst ensuring that they always maintain a professional attitude.

THE HOURS

The successful applicant must be flexible and professional. The Luton base operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year.  Opening and closing hours are based on the customer’s requirements.

The average working week is 40 hours, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.  The hours of work are 07:00 – 19:00.  The standard shift is 11 ½ hours, with a 30-minute unpaid break (total 12 hours).

Initial Company Induction training will require a period working Monday to Friday.

Overtime as and when required is agreed with the Hangar Superintendent or Engineering Manager in advance, for which you will receive the options of overtime payment or lieu time.

The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, as the needs of the business require. On occasions, alternative working hours may be required to support the business needs. 

Travel to other locations may also be required.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will;

  • Hold a full CAA Part 66 license.
  • Hold a minimum of 2 type ratings, listed on the HAL Form 3 (Bombardier Challenger 300/350; 604/605 and / or Global type aircraft).
  • Be able to apply for and hold company approval on these types.
  • Have demonstratable experience running or assisting with maintenance checks.
  • If holding a ‘C’ rating, be expected to exercise that privilege.

The role is demanding, and the successful candidate should be calm, professional and flexible under pressure.

They will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

They will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative, setting a professional example to their team, always demonstrating courtesy and integrity.

They will have good communication skills as well as strong computer and administration skills (general working knowledge of systems such as Microsoft office) which are essential.

A full UK driving license is essential, and they will also need to have a 5-year checkable history to obtain an airport ID pass.
