London Luton – Customs & Immigration
Her Majesty's Customs and Immigration departments are located within the main terminal building at London Luton airport.
Harrods Aviation maintains an excellent working relationship with these official bodies for the benefit of our customers but we always operate within their restrictions and ask that all customers adhere to rules and regulations for their own benefit and the operational integrity of our business.
The mechanics of immigration controls vary between airports but the Harrods Aviation Luton FBO works in conjunction with HM Immigration (HMI) service to provide, where possible, a passenger immigration pre-clearance service that enables non-EU passengers arriving at Luton the ability to be cleared for entry into the UK prior to arrival at our FBO. This service, if used correctly, enables passengers to avoid the need to attend personally or encounter a wait on arrival while our staff take their passport to Immigration for approval. The approved procedure is managed by our FBO staff who liaise with the aircraft operator or agent to obtain the necessary passenger information in advance in order to complete and produce the pre-clearance form. This form must then be submitted to HMI by 2200hrs the day prior to arrival. Provided HMI are satisfied with the data submitted they will stamp the official entry approval on the form, which is then handed back to the passenger by our staff upon arrival at Luton. All passenger information is treated confidentially and securely. It is generally accepted that once a passenger has completed this form for the first time, we then manage the arrival process for all future occasions without the need to obtain any further information from them. Only when data has changed would there be a need to supply us with those changes, in order that we remain current on all the details.
If it is not possible to obtain all of the necessary answers to complete the pre-clearance form in advance then it is likely that the passenger will experience a 10-20 minute wait on arrival while our staff take the passport to HMI directly for clearance.
The standard notification of EU passengers remains the same for us to complete our manifests etc, with the provision of name, date of birth, nationality and passport number.
HM Customs and Immigration reserve the right to request to see any passenger at any time regardless of whether we have the correct data in advance, and within the aviation community it is generally accepted that we have no control to prevent this happening.
