Cabotage
Cabotage: a complex issue but nonetheless a crucial necessity for all non-European operators flying into Europe. In aviation terms cabotage is the right to operate within the domestic borders of another country. Specifically in business aviation this affects all non-European operators wishing to operate for hire and reward within Europe.
In order for such operators to fly legally within the borders of Europe their aircraft must be 'imported'. This is not importing in terms of aircraft re-registration in another country but, simplistically, is a term used to cover a paperwork procedure.
As an operator using Harrods Aviation you should simply consider cabotage as another service, all the while remembering to request it at least 48 hours prior to your arrival in the UK. We can then make contact with you to gather the necessary paperwork and have your application processed in time for your onward departure to mainland Europe.
Cabotage need not be difficult. If you are in any doubt as to whether importation is required, please contact the FBO specific to your arrival for more details.
