Plans to Move Our Luton FBO to a New Facility
Since the opening of the current Harrods Aviation Luton FBO in June 2003, annual movements at the base have increased by 159%.
This trend of year on year growth, that is clearly illustrated by our total movements for July of
this year breaking the 1,600 barrier for the first time, means the FBO is bursting at the seams.
An increase in business of this magnitude also brings with it extra support staff and so the time has come to relocate the operation to a new facility that will meet the demands of our customers and house our staff comfortably in order that they can support our customers more efficiently.
With the support of the Luton Airport Authority Harrods Aviation, in the summer of 2007, plan to move to a building known as Hangar 129, adjacent to what is currently the cargo area at Luton airport.
Over the next year it is proposed that this whole area is to undergo significant re-development work, leaving Harrods Aviation with a completly refurbished building from which to operate with ample lounge space, a ramp area of 10,000m2, a car park with some 100 spaces and a private access road onto the site.
Harrods Aviation will retain Hangars 201, 202 and the attached ramp area but with the proposed extended demise of the new facility both areas will be closer than ever before, centralising and making our Luton activities much more efficient.
The new FBO building should have 800m2 of offices on two levels with just under 500m2 of lounges, with the ground floor dedicated solely to customer use. It will comprise arrival and departure lounges, VVIP lounge, crew areas, conference rooms, catering facilities and customer office accommodation. Recognising the growth in our business and the requests of our customers we are also pleased to confirm that there will be control authority offices on-base meaning greater convenience for our customers and a first for FBOs at Luton.
Another exciting benefit of this new facility will be a private entrance way with direct security access. This, combined with our new position away from the roadways associated with the main terminal building, will mean more convenient vehicular access for our customers.
Overall a very exciting development for Harrods Aviation and we look forward to welcoming our customers into a new facility befitting its name.
