  Breaking European Boundaries
The Air Harrods fleet and its pilots can boast to having visited some impressive European destinations this summer.

The distances travelled are an excellent example of how resourceful the Air Harrods team is in its approach to serving its customers and just how versatile the fleet can be. Italy was the first port of call; our crews providing their expertise in support of a customer taking a summer break in the country. On a pre-planned rostered basis crews were flown out to Italy commercially to provide cover for each other ensuring duty hours were not exceeded.

The provision of crews and a flight engineer from Harrods Aviation in support of the aircraft at all times are regular requirements of our customer while the aircraft is abroad. However, an unprecedented amount of planning and preparation is required in advance of a mission such as this and is ably carried out by the Air Harrods operations team. Later in the summer the Air Harrods AOC was extended to cover Cyprus at the request of a customer who was to tour the country over a ten day period.

As an experienced helicopter user our customer realised the benefits a helicopter would have in gaining him access to different parts of the island. The customer flew ahead by private jet while Air Harrods helicopter G-MOMO, an Agusta A109E Power 'Elite' known for its operational versatility, began the journey from London to Paphos taking two and a half days to travel the 3,500 mile journey. Several refuelling stops were made in four different countries along the way.

Planning a trip that was to venture this far from home presented certain operational challenges for our operations team who can now say they have extensive European knowledge after this summer's exploits.

G-MOMO returned safely home after flying challenging missions across Cyprus for our customer and our team that flew around Italy are now pondering which European boundaries they will break next year.
