Airline toilet installation
The Air Harrods-managed VIP S-92 helicopter based at Harrods Aviation Stansted has undergone the installation of what is technically termed an 'airline' toilet.
Already fitted with a standard chemical toilet Harrods Aviation had been tasked as the contracted maintenance provider to undertake this one-off modification; unique because the aircraft has an early ship number and the floor panel was not designed to take this type of installation.
This installation is incredibly rare in helicopters and there are only three other S-92 configured with 'airline' toilets. These aircraft are later ships with modified floor panels able to accept the modification without extensive structural changes. For the Air Harrods aircraft the whole system had to be certified from new and the floor panel redesigned.
The term ‘airline’ toilet conjures up thoughts of moulded plastic and certainly does not sound very ‘VIP’; not so in the S-92. The new stainless steel, electric flush toilet with external servicing port now compliments the luxury interior that was also fitted by Harrods Aviation and its partners.
